CS School Logo Kids 300x201 New York Schools Continue to Adopt Coating Specialists Antimicrobial TechnologyFirst Long Island Schools to Use Advanced Antimicrobial Treatment Still Fighting Bacteria Proactively Three Years Later

NESCONSET, N.Y., Feb. 10, 2010…ENVIROspect™(www.envirospect.com), the environmental services firm that is one of the nation’s leading providers of SurfaceAide® antimicrobial protection, today announced five Long Island-area high schools have treated parts of their facilities with SurfaceAide (www.antimicrobial.com). It marks the second time all five schools have treated high-touch areas with the long lasting, environmentally-friendly antimicrobial product.

When the schools (Brentwood, Hauppauge, Mineola, St. John the Baptist, Smithtown CSD and Ward Melville) originally had their wrestling facilities treated nearly three years ago, they were among the first schools in the country to use the highly advanced antimicrobial technology. These forward-thinking schools decided to re-apply the antimicrobial protection again because of their commitment to creating the best possible environment for their students.

“Smithtown Central School District continues to use the antimicrobial treatment applied by ENVIROspect because we have found the product is extremely effective as a preventative measure to combat skin infections,” said Pat Smith, Smithtown Central School District’s Coordinator of Health and Athletics. “The validity of this product has been proven over and over through random testing. Our proactive approach starts with the SurfaceAide antimicrobial application from ENVIROspect.”

Applied to all of the high schools’ wrestling mats, equipment and locker rooms, the SurfaceAide treatment eliminates 99.9% of germs and bacteria and creates an antimicrobial barrier on surfaces that continuously inhibits bacteria and mold growth.

“The administration of the Three Village Central School District and the athletic department understand how important it is to take a proactive approach to help protect our students and athletes from issues that can arise from things like bacteria and fungi,” commented Erin Blaney, Ward Melville High School’s Executive Director of Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Athletics. “We had the SurfaceAide antimicrobial treatment done again because it’s a long lasting and proven solution to harmful bacterial growth.”

As one of the country’s largest providers of SurfaceAide, ENVIROspect has helped a wide array of businesses, universities and professional sports franchises proactively guard vital surfaces from the growth of harmful bacteria and mold. The New York Yankees, Washington Redskins and Columbia University (which has also been treated twice) are among some of the most well-known clients that have called on ENVIROspect to apply the advanced system of antimicrobial protection.

“A SurfaceAide treatment adds a level of protection to surfaces that even the most diligent cleaning protocols can’t,” said ENVIROspect President Robert Madarasz. “Once we apply SurfaceAide, we warranty the bacteria and mold fighting coating for two years.”

The application of the unique bacteria-fighting product is a two-step process that begins with applicators cleaning areas tabbed for treatment with a hospital-grade cleaner and disinfectant.  This portion of the process ensures that 99.9% of bacteria and germs, such as MRSA and H1N1, on the surface are eliminated before the 24/7 antimicrobial protection of SurfaceAide is applied. The antimicrobial coating creates a non-toxic, environmentally friendly antimicrobial barrier on surfaces that fights the growth of a wide array of bacteria and mold 24/7. It is invisible, odorless and non-sensitizing to human skin once it is applied to a surface.

Goshow Architects Will Feature SurfaceAide Technology

Monday, June 21st, 2010

GAlogo1 Goshow Architects Will Feature SurfaceAide TechnologyGoshow Architects, the New York based firm founded on the belief that architects have a social responsibility to design healthy and sustainable environments, is showcasing the Surface Antimicrobial System™ in its newly renovated Manhattan office.

Applied by spray to 2,000 square feet of high-touch surfaces in Goshow’s new facility, SurfaceAide® antimicrobial technology will continually inhibit the growth of bacteria for up to three years before another application is needed because it was applied by professional applicators. The non-toxic, non-leaching coating will be working continuously to minimize the presence of bacteria on the following surfaces in the firm’s new workspace: all bathroom surfaces, desks, conference room furniture, chairs, computers, phones, and door handles.

Although SurfaceAide is used heavily in educational, government, military, and sports facilities, Goshow is the first architectural company in the world to integrate the innovative antimicrobial coating into its own office space. Fully committed to sustainable design, Goshow Architects felt it was crucial that the new office represent the green design concepts and products they are incorporating into their design projects.

“Having both CSG technologies integrated into the design plan for Goshow’s newly renovated office space demonstrates how two very different surface treatments can be used together to create a comprehensive solution to issues such as human health, air pollution, and resource conservation,” said Craig Andrews, Coating Specialists Chief Executive Officer.

“Our new Manhattan space is already registered under the USGBC program for LEED commercial interiors,” said Nancy Goshow, Managing Partner. “We are planning on achieving a minimum LEED C.I. Silver certification for our office building design and construction. SAS should help us achieve that goal as well significantly reduce our maintenance costs.”
